Synopsis
: Pyaar is a modern Indian love story, set in the Indian neighborhood of Devon Street in Chicago. The main character, ARUN, is in his mid-twenties and is from a traditional Punjabi family from Delhi. He is encouraged to have an arranged marriage in India after seeing the example of happiness set by his younger brother. After a beautiful wedding in India, ARUN and his wife ANJALIE return to Chicago to a life of comfort and routine. Flash forward a few years, and still with a relatively happy marriage in tact, ANJALIE unexplainably falls in love one day with a man in her workplace. From one minute to the next his wife is a changed woman, and she finds herself struggling with feelings of guilt. Her traditional family does not understand her behavior, as for them, love does not enter the equation…it is a question of staying with your man. She explains to them that it is the frustration over not being able to conceive, but even in her heart, the force to leave her loving husband is stronger than logic…it is an overwhelming force that pulls her from everything she knows. From Arun’s side, he realizes that if he really loves Anjali, he has no choice but to set her free.
